Take The Whole Set.

Chrome, matte black and brushed nickel are consistent enough across brands that you can mix without anyone noticing. Golds and gunmetals are where it falls apart, because every brand mixes its own. If you're going warm, take the set from one range. If you're going chrome or black, buy the piece you need.

How To Choose Bathroom Accessories

What a complete bathroom actually needs

Accessories are the last thing ordered and the first thing noticed. A useful checklist for a standard Adelaide main bathroom: one double towel rail, a hand towel rail or ring near the basin, two robe hooks, one toilet roll holder, a toilet brush holder, a shower shelf and a soap dish. For an ensuite, drop to a single towel rail and one hook. Order them with the vanity and tapware rather than afterwards — it is the only reliable way to get everything in the same finish from the same range.

Buy the range, not the individual piece

Every finish has a slightly different tone. Two brushed nickel hooks from two suppliers will not match, and once they are on the wall next to each other you will see it every day. Our accessories are grouped into matched ranges — Zen, Mecca, Bianca, York, Celia, Opal, Evie, Sora, Seto, Ideal, Flush and Aria among them — so a hook, rail and roll holder from the same range are identical in tone and profile. Pick the range that matches your tapware and take the set.

Choosing a finish for Adelaide water

  • Chrome — the most forgiving, the easiest to replace and the cheapest to live with. Hides nothing but shows nothing either.
  • Brushed nickel — the best performer in hard water. Adelaide's supply leaves visible marks on gloss finishes; a brushed surface disguises them.
  • Matte black — sharp against white tile, but shows water spots and fingerprints. Fine if you wipe it down; frustrating if you will not.
  • Brushed gold and gunmetal — the strongest look and the highest maintenance. Best in a powder room or ensuite that gets lighter use.

Where to put them

Towel rails want to sit around 1200mm off the floor, and a double rail needs about 100mm clear of the wall so towels hang without touching. Robe hooks go at roughly 1600–1700mm, high enough that a long towel does not drag on the floor. The toilet roll holder sits about 200mm forward of the pan and 700mm off the floor, on the wall you can reach without leaning. Mark it all out with tape before anyone drills — tiles do not forgive a second attempt.

Fixing into a tiled wall

Most accessories are fixed after tiling, which means drilling glazed tile. Use a proper tile bit, start slow with tape over the mark to stop the bit wandering, and hit a noggin wherever you can — particularly for towel rails, which take real load when a wet towel is thrown over them. If your walls are already tiled, set out the positions before you buy so you know the rail width will land where you need it.

Accessible and care fittings

If the bathroom is being built for ageing in place or accessibility, grab rails are not the same product as a towel rail and must not be substituted. Our care range is load-rated for support, and AS 1428 sets out the placement. Plan noggins into the wall framing before sheeting — a grab rail fixed into plasterboard alone is not safe.

Bathroom accessories in Adelaide

All of our accessory ranges are stocked in South Australia, with delivery across metro Adelaide and regional SA, or collection from the Edinburgh showroom. Come in and see the finishes side by side — brushed nickel and gunmetal in particular look very different in daylight than they do on a screen. Matching your mirror and vanity at the same time keeps the whole room on one palette.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What accessories does a standard bathroom need?

For a main bathroom: one double towel rail, a hand towel rail or ring at the basin, two robe hooks, a toilet roll holder, a brush holder, a shower shelf and a soap dish. For an ensuite, a single towel rail and one hook is usually enough.

How high should a towel rail be?

About 1200mm off the finished floor, with roughly 100mm clearance from the wall so towels hang freely. Robe hooks go higher, around 1600–1700mm, so a long towel does not drag on the floor.

Which finish handles Adelaide water best?

Brushed nickel. Adelaide's water leaves visible marks on gloss surfaces, and a brushed finish disguises them far better than chrome or matte black. Matte black and brushed gold look sharp but need wiping down regularly.

Can I mix accessories from different ranges?

We would not. Finishes vary in tone between ranges and suppliers, and two supposedly matching pieces side by side on a wall will look off. Pick one range and take the set.

Can I use a towel rail as a grab rail?

No. A towel rail is not load-rated for body weight. If you need support, use a proper grab rail from our care range, fixed to noggins in the wall framing, positioned to AS 1428. Plan those noggins in before the walls are sheeted.

How do I fix accessories into tiles without cracking them?

Use a proper tile bit, put tape over the mark so the bit does not wander, and start slow. Hit a noggin wherever possible, especially for towel rails, which take real weight when a wet towel goes over them.

Do you deliver bathroom accessories across South Australia?

Yes — metro Adelaide and regional SA, or collect from the Edinburgh showroom. Accessories usually ship the same day when ordered with the rest of your bathroom.
