Find Your Fit.

A kitchen mixer gets used more than any other tap in the house, so how it moves matters as much as how it looks. Our range covers fixed gooseneck spouts, swivel mixers and pull-out and pull-down sprays, from trade-priced workhorses through to the Nero York range with porcelain levers.

How to Choose a Kitchen Sink Mixer

Gooseneck, pull-out or pull-down

A fixed gooseneck gives good height for filling pots and is the simplest, most reliable option. A pull-out spray extends on a hose, which makes rinsing a deep or double bowl and cleaning the sink much easier. A pull-down is similar but the spray head sits higher and drops into the bowl, which suits taller gooseneck spouts. If you wash large trays or fill buckets, the extra reach pays for itself.

Check the spout height and reach

The spout needs to clear the tallest thing you put in the sink, and the water should land near the centre of the bowl rather than against the back. A tall mixer over a shallow bowl splashes. Also check clearance if there is a window behind the sink, because a high gooseneck can foul the sash when it opens.

Deck mounted or wall mounted

Most kitchen mixers are deck mounted, sitting in a hole drilled in the sink or benchtop. A wall-mounted mixer frees the bench and looks cleaner, but the plumbing has to be roughed into the wall before tiling, so it is a renovation decision rather than a swap. Confirm the tap hole position and size before ordering either way.

Finish and cartridge quality

Chrome is the easiest finish to keep clean in a kitchen and never dates. Brushed nickel hides water spots well, which suits Adelaide water. Matte black and brushed gold look sharp but show marks more in a high-use kitchen. Whatever the finish, look for a ceramic-disc cartridge and a solid manufacturer's warranty, and have the mixer installed by a licensed plumber.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a pull-out kitchen mixer worth it?
For most kitchens, yes. The extra reach makes rinsing a deep or double bowl, filling pots on the bench and cleaning the sink much easier. A fixed gooseneck is simpler and has fewer moving parts, so it is a reasonable choice for a low-use or rental kitchen.
What is the difference between a sink mixer and a basin mixer?
A sink mixer is made for a kitchen or laundry sink, with a taller spout and more reach to cover a deep bowl. A basin mixer is shorter and sized for a bathroom basin. They are not interchangeable in practice, even though the plumbing connection is similar.
How high should a kitchen mixer be?
High enough to clear your tallest pot but low enough that the water lands near the centre of the bowl without splashing. Check the clearance to a window above the sink as well, since a tall gooseneck can block the sash.
Which kitchen mixer finish is easiest to maintain?
Chrome is the simplest to wipe clean and never dates. Brushed nickel is the next easiest and hides water spots well. Matte black and brushed gold look excellent but show fingerprints and marks more in a busy kitchen.
Do I need a plumber to install a kitchen mixer?
Yes. Tapware connects into the permanent water supply and must be installed by a licensed plumber in Australia to meet plumbing standards and keep the manufacturer's warranty valid.
