Wall-hung vs floor-standing

Wall-hung vanities are fixed to the wall with the floor visible underneath, which makes a bathroom feel larger and the floor easier to clean. They need solid wall backing to carry the weight. Floor-standing vanities sit on the floor, hide the plumbing behind the cabinet and are the simpler install, which makes them a safe choice for a straight swap of an old unit.

Getting the size right

Measure the wall space and allow clearance for the door swing and any drawers. As a guide: 600mm suits ensuites and powder rooms, 750mm to 900mm is the standard main-bathroom size, and 1200mm to 1500mm gives you a double basin or a lot of bench and storage. Check the basin position too, since offset and centre basins change how much usable bench you get.

Tops and basins

Ceramic tops are hard-wearing and easy to clean. Stone and solid-surface tops feel more premium and handle heat and stains well. Above-counter basins make a design statement, while under-counter and integrated basins are the easiest to wipe down. All pair with our Nero tapware range.

Finishes that last

Gloss and satin white are timeless and match everything. Timber-look and fluted fronts add warmth and texture and are the current favourites in Adelaide renovations. Whatever the finish, look for water-resistant board and soft-close drawers so the vanity still looks good in ten years.
